Nissan Patrol NISMO: The 495 HP Performance SUV Redefining Power

Nissan Patrol NISMO: The 495 HP Performance SUV Redefining Power

The Nissan Patrol has long been recognised for its commanding road presence, off-road capability and premium comfort. With the all-new Nissan Patrol NISMO, Nissan takes the flagship SUV in a more performance-focused direction, combining a specially tuned twin-turbo V6 engine with motorsport-inspired styling and upgraded handling.

Developed specifically for Middle Eastern customers, the Patrol NISMO delivers 495 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque in Sport Mode, making it the most powerful version of the current Patrol lineup. Its focus is not simply on straight-line performance but also on sharper handling, aerodynamic refinement and a more engaging driving experience.

A 495 HP Twin-Turbo V6 Engine

Nissan Patrol NISMO

At the heart of the Nissan Patrol NISMO is a 3.5-litre VR35DDTT twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine. It produces 495 hp at 5,600 rpm and 700 Nm of torque at 3,600 rpm, paired with a recalibrated nine-speed automatic transmission and paddle shifters.

The engine receives dedicated NISMO tuning, including a distinctive red engine cover and a commemorative metal plate. Nissan has developed this powertrain to deliver stronger performance while retaining the refinement expected from a full-size luxury SUV.

The Patrol NISMO also features a recalibrated suspension system with electronically controlled dampers. These adjustments are designed to improve body control and handling, helping the large SUV feel more composed during spirited driving.

Motorsport-Inspired Exterior Design

The Patrol NISMO stands apart through its more aggressive exterior treatment. The front features a redesigned V-Motion grille with a three-dimensional honeycomb pattern, while revised bumper sections and air curtains are engineered to manage airflow and support cooling.

At the rear, an extended spoiler, layered diffuser elements and additional aerodynamic details contribute to stability at higher speeds. The design gives the SUV a more purposeful appearance while supporting its performance-oriented engineering.

Another highlight is the set of 22-inch forged aluminium alloy wheels co-developed with RAYS. Their lightweight construction is intended to reduce unsprung mass and improve lateral stiffness and brake cooling. Nissan states that the wheels are 23% lighter than those on the standard Patrol.

A Performance SUV That Retains Its Flagship Character

Despite its sportier setup, the Patrol NISMO remains a large, practical SUV. Nissan lists seating for up to eight occupants, retaining the spacious cabin layout associated with the Patrol nameplate.

The performance model measures 5,295 mm in length and 2,070 mm in width. Its longer body and wider stance distinguish it from the standard Patrol, although its minimum ground clearance is lower at 195 mm. This reflects its more road-focused character rather than an emphasis on maximum off-road clearance.

A NISMO-tuned exhaust system adds a deeper exhaust note, while Active Sound Enhancement enriches the sound experience inside the cabin. Together, these details create a more performance-oriented atmosphere without abandoning the vehicle’s premium SUV identity.

Friday Night Cars Insight

The Nissan Patrol NISMO demonstrates how a full-size luxury SUV can adopt a stronger performance identity without losing its commanding presence. Its 495 hp twin-turbo V6, recalibrated suspension, aerodynamic detailing and lightweight forged wheels make it a distinctive flagship for enthusiasts who value both luxury and driving engagement.

For Indian buyers considering an imported Patrol, the key is to verify the specific vehicle and its landed cost rather than assume that Middle Eastern availability automatically translates into an official Indian launch.
